Go underground at Fresno’s Forestiere Underground Garden . Sicilian immigrant Baldasare Forestiere spent some 40 years sculpting, using only hand tools to create this amazing underground complex consisting of a network of underground rooms, an underground garden home, arches and stonework patterned after the catacombs of Ancient Rome, and an auto tunnel running the length of the gardens, almost 800 feet long! Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a California Historic Landmark, the garden is also home to unique trees, shrubs and vines all growing underground - some almost 100 years old!
