Jump start your mind with incredible artwork at the Haggin Museum . The museum stands in Stockton's beautiful Victory Park (and has for nearly 80 years), but the inside is just as fantastic. Especially notable is the collection of Yosemite Valley panoramic paintings by American Albert Bierstadt, including one that once hung in the White House. The Haggin has the largest museum collection of major works by Bierstadt. Additionally, the museum's fine art galleries are home to paintings by famous artists of the 19th and earth 20th centuries, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Jean Beraud, William Bouguereau, Rosa Bonheur, George Inness and Jean-Leon Gerome. You'll also find displays on the history of the San Joaquin Valley.
The 47th annual juried art show features more than 100 works of art. Some 400 artists, nationwide, submit entries representing all medium -- oil, watercolor, creative, fiber, textile, photography, and more. Entries are judged and displayed at the Fairfield Center Gallery at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts and the exhibit is open Thursdays through Saturdays.
