Located in downtown Sacramento, the California State Indian Museum displays artifacts and exhibits that chronicle the history, culture and traditions of Native Californians. The presentation includes basketry, beadwork, ceremonial dance regalia, sacred objects and photographs, as well as a hands-on display of Indian tools and a demonstration village. One of the more notable exhibits is about Ishi, believed to be the last California Indian to have lived most of his life outside European American culture. Push buttons at many of the displays provide an audio tour that helps you guide yourself through the museum.

It also honors the extraordinary efforts of thousands of California citizens who supported and sacrificed for the union in a variety of ways.
